Where in Vietnam is our coffee grown?

Vietnam is full of interesting places. Each region of this country has something to tell about itself and something to show. It is impossible to form a single impression about this country, since each of the provinces reveals Vietnamese coffee from completely different sides. The fact is that all the provinces here are unique. They have their own special geographical relief and natural conditions.

It's about the special Vietnamese coffee

These features of Vietnam create the completely unique flavors of Vietnamese coffee. The southern provinces have fertile soil, high temperatures, and humid climates. The weather here is consistent, so local specialists managed to develop many technologies for growing high-quality coffee.

Where is it? In Lam Dong, of course! Lam Dong is in the south part of Vietnam, it is northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. And Lam Dong is the capital of Vietnamese coffee beans.

The province is located high above sea level, so the temperature range here is quite wide. This natural feature is the key reason for the special taste of local coffee. What is the reason and what is the taste? To get answers to these questions, we asked farmers who work on Lam Dong plantations.

In the article, you will read what farmers from the city of Di Linh and the Tram Hanh district told us about the natural features of their plantations. What does Vietnamese coffee taste like?

Vo Lyk told us about the Robusta from Di Linh

In Di Linh there is fertile basalt red soil, the city itself is located at an altitude of about 1000 meters above sea level. Di Linh can hardly be called a high-altitude area, so the temperatures here are quite high. So that the lands of coffee plantations will not dry - they are regularly irrigated with water. This contributes to the fullness and richness of the local soil.

All these factors make the Di Linh area ideal for growing Robusta. The fact is that the real Vietnamese Robusta is a fairly unpretentious plant. It feels comfortable at an altitude of 800-1000 meters above sea level.

In Di Linh, Robusta trees consistently grow tall. In the world of the coffee industry, this is a sign of high-quality coffee. For this weather stability, coffee from local plantations is extremely loved by coffee experts. After all, this is quite a rare phenomenon for the plantation area!

Robusta from the Di Linh district has a high sugar content, the coffee beans from here are extremely dark and are hard. Coffee from such beans has a delicate aroma and sweetness. In our article about Vietnamese Robusta you can learn more about this coffee variety.

“Good Morning, Vietnam” is that kind of coffee. This is 100% Robusta from Di Linh, especially sweet and tart. It is a great invigorating drink for lovers of the strong taste.

About Arabica from Tram Hanh

Surprisingly, the neighboring areas of Lam Dong can be completely different from each other. After all, Tram Hanh is a fairly humid area in terms of climate; it is located at an ideal altitude of 1450-1650 meters above sea level for growing Arabica coffee.

The average temperature here is lower than in Di Linh. Due to the high location above sea level; the humidity of the Tram Hanh region creates a wide temperature range for these places. Simply put, in a year it can get both very warm and very cold. For Vietnam, it is a rarity.

The average annual rainfall in Tram Hanh is 2000-2500 mm. At night there is a thick fog, during the day there is water vapor; coffee trees on local plantations regularly absorb a lot of water. Because of this climate, it takes for them more time to ripen than in Di Linh: this is the main reason for the soft and delicate taste of the Arabica variety from these places.

Arabica from MR VIET came from Tram Hanh. It has a rich, full-bodied taste with a fine sourness in it. In these climate-humid conditions, Arabica grows with a low caffeine content. Due to this, its aroma is more spicy and soft.
