Freeze-Dried Instant Coffee: Process and MR.VIET Buyer Checks

What Is Freeze-Dried Instant Coffee?
Freeze-dried instant coffee is a soluble coffee made from brewed coffee extract. Ground coffee needs a brewing step to extract the drink; instant granules have already been extracted and dried, so they can be dissolved in water.
The National Coffee Association’s instant-coffee guide explains the distinction. Freeze drying describes a production method. It does not by itself establish the coffee’s blend, roast, ingredients, caffeine level or taste.

How is instant coffee made?
Production begins with roasted coffee that is ground and extracted with water. The extract is concentrated, frozen and dried under vacuum. Ice is removed as vapour, leaving dry soluble coffee. This is different from spray drying, which dries liquid extract in hot air.
The roast and bean blend are separate choices from the drying method. A product should not be assumed to use one dark-roast method because it is freeze-dried, and granule appearance should not be used to infer its recipe.
For a product comparison, use the same serving dose and water quantity recommended for each sample. Record the product and lot, preparation method, aroma, taste and how it dissolves. Keep the sample assessment linked to the written specification; “freeze-dried” alone is too broad a buying requirement.
