Amazing Coffee - Kopi Luwak (Chon)

Any person who is fond of the world coffee culture has heard at least once about an interesting variety called Kopi Luwak or Chon. It is produced in Vietnam in large quantities and the Vietnamese are deservedly proud of the fame of Kopi Luwak, which it has gained among coffee lovers around the world.

Everything in this variety is amazing: from its production to taste. Chon has a pleasant combination of notes of caramel and chocolate, and its aroma is complemented by delicate vanilla. But how does such a blend come about?

The fact is that recognized as one of the most elite world varieties of coffee, Chon was created not by a person at all, but by a small fluffy animal. It's really hard to imagine that this really happened, but here's the truth: not a single person was involved in this process.

It is the Musangs, martens from South Asia, that are the recognized as the "producers" of the Kopi Luwak. They eat coffee beans that grow on plantations. Their stomach is able to digest only the pulp of these berries, while the coffee beans themselves remain intact after the digestion process. People then pick these coffee beans, wash and dry them.

The organic process of "production" of Kopi Luwak gives it the same special taste and aroma.

This legend tells of a family maintaining a coffee plantation. After a fertile harvest, wild musangs attacked the plantation and ate almost all the coffee berries. After this terrible event, the family was on the verge of poverty, because there was nothing to sell.

Inspecting the plantation "robbed" by animals, one of the family members noticed that it was all strewn with coffee beans, which were amazingly preserved in excellent condition.

There was no money at all, so the family decided to sell these coffee beans to avoid starvation. And imagine their surprise when they received feedback from customers: people were delighted with an amazing variety of coffee, unlike anything else to taste.

This is how the modern Kopi Luwak was born.
